I realize my blog title is an oxymoron, but anyone living in the area knows where many of our locals head for their beach fix. As a matter of fact, 30A car stickers are way more common than “My child is an honor roll student.” (Even despite our awesome WCS schools). We just returned from a quick trip to Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort. I admit slightly off 30A, but still the beautiful Emerald Coast waters and white sand beaches of the Florida Panhandle. True paradise. Did I mention that I can’t wait to go back? My photograph of the sunset reflection on the bay side may help you understand why. Ocean waves, salty air and amazing sunsets can do wonders for the soul.
So, while I adore the Brentwood, TN area, we are somewhat landlocked. If I had to find any negative about my hometown that would have to be it. But, the good news is that these beaches and many other awesome locations on the Florida/Alabama border (i.e. Perdido Key, Orange Beach, Gulf Shores) are only about an eight-hour drive. Just eight hours! As a matter of fact Nashville, TN is within just one day’s drive of 75% of US Major Markets. Cool, right?
I would love to hear about your favorite vacation destinations.
P.S. Southwest now flies direct to Panama City and Pensacola, FL from Nashville BNA.
P.P.S. We ran into at least five families we knew while there. Aaahh, home away from home.
