Williamson County Tennessee
Williamson County covers a total area of about 584 mi.² most of it being land and is adjacent to Davidson County, Rutherford County, Marshall County, Maury County, Hickman County, Dickson County and Cheatham County. It’s located just south of Nashville and encompasses the main cities of Brentwood, Franklin, Nolensville, Arrington, College Grove, Leiper’s Fork, Fairview, Spring Hill and Thompson’s Station. It’s home to roughly 184,000 residents but the County seat being Franklin. Named after Hugh Williamson who was a North Carolina politician who signed the U.S. Constitution, much of Williamson County is considered a national protected area.
Rich in history and Civil War era, Williamson County was considered the second wealthiest County in the state, high in resources of timber and rich soil. This provided a stable economy for many of the earliest settlers.
In addition to Williamson’s rich history, there are also several historical national landmarks throughout the County with beautiful rolling Hills, farms, wineries, and plantations teeming with life, flowers and southern hospitality. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or plan to stay a lifetime, beautiful inns, rustic lodges, and tranquil bed-and-breakfasts appeal to a variety of residents and inhabitants.
Williamson is home to the Williamson County fair which debuts around the first and second week of August. Enjoy 4-H competitions, agricultural barns, delicious fair food, competitions, fabulous contests and music. Locals from all around head out to the Williamson County fair just South of Franklin.
Dozens of schools, well-stocked libraries and a parks and recreational department making sure our parks, hiking trails, and facilities are kept in top-notch condition all make Williamson County a wonderful place to call home.
